Associate professor Zhang Yiqi, a key member of professor Zhang Yanpeng’s research team at XJTU State Key Lab on Electrophysics and Components, has long committed to studies of beams space control. Recently, associate professor Zhang Yiqi conducted an innovative study upon the propagation dynamics of chirped Gaussian beams through fractional Schrdinger Equation.

The research shows that Schrdinger Equation in harmonic trap could effectively control the light beams in space and demonstrate exceptional properties as well. In one dimension, Gaussian beams propagate in a zigzag track; while in two dimensions, Gaussian beams change into a circular structure and show a breath-like feature. Especially in two dimensions, Gaussian beams derive wire-like structures without depending on linear control, which could produce strong laser pulses. The research findings have been published in the prestigious physics journal Phys. Rev. Lett., entitled Propagation Dynamics of a Light Beam in a Fractional Schrdinger Equation.

(For the original paper, visithttp://journals.aps.org/prl/abstract/10.1103/PhysRevLett.115.180403). The paper reader believed their results were important in the emerging domain of fractional Schrdinger equations.

XJTU is the first and the correspondent author of the paper. Associate professor Zhang Yiqi is the first author while professor Zhang Yanpeng is the correspondent author.

In the first half year of 2015, associate professor Zhang Yiqi published a study on photonic topological insulator in atomic media in Laser Photonics Rev.

(see the paper athttp://dx.doi.org/10.1002/lpor.201400428). The paper is creative in that it proposes photonic topological insulator in atom system and makes a solid step for the transition of topological insulator studies from electro field to photonic field.
