XJTU headed a delegation to three north American universities and signed joint degree agreements

From October 19 to 25, 2015, XJTU vice president Zheng Qinghua, dean Li Fuxi of School of Sciences, party secretary Zhu Xu of School of Math and Statistical Sciences, and director Yang Sen of Elite Education Office etc visited the University of Alberta in Canada and the Georgia Institute of Technology and the State University of New York Stony Brook in the United States.

The vice president Deabra Osburn of the University of Alberta warmly received the delegation headed by VP Zheng Qinghua and signed the joint education agreement with XJTU on elites training in basic disciplines. According to the agreement, XJTU exchanges annually 20 undergraduate students to the university.

The delegation then visited the Georgia Institute of Technology. The vice president Yves Berthelot renewed the joint education agreement on elites training in basic disciplines together with vice president Zheng Qinghua. The agreement indicates that around 15 XJTU students will be on exchange programs to the institute on a yearly basis.

At the State University of New York Stony Brook, vice president Zheng Qinghua exchanged views with the vice president Richard Reeder on high-level talent exchange and joint education etc.

At the end of the trip, vice president Zheng Qinghua visited XJTU-New York Alumni Association and awarded a banner to the association.

The Chinese Ministry of Education Trial Plan on Education of Elite Students in Basic Disciplines vows to educate in basic disciplines exceptional students with international perspectives. XJTU is among the first batch of universities selected into the plan. XJTU has set up the Elite Education Office to better implement the plan.
