On October 16 evening, the first National Big Data Competition awarding ceremony was held at Room 101, Science Hall. The competition was sponsored by XJTU and Baidu. XJTU president Wang Shuguo, VP Zheng Qinghua, the 1992 XJTU alumni, Baidu vice president Zhu Guang, and senior director Zhang Gao of Baidu Emerging Market and University Branding attended the ceremony and conferred awards.

The competition was the first project implemented after XJTU signed framework agreement with Baidu in Beijing in April to jointly build the big data talent innovation platform. The competition was launched at XJTU on May 11, lasting for five months. The competition gathered 834 teams from 142 universities. Through fierce competition, 1 first prize, 2 second prize and 3 third prize were offered. The team from East China University of Science and Technology gained the first prize and 100,000 RMB premium. XJTU earned the third prize.
