January 15, 2015, the vice president of Carnegie Mellon University Kuen Jimmy Hsia and his delegation visited Xi'an Jiaotong University. President Wang Shuguo met with the delegation.

President WANG said that Carnegie Mellon University and Xi'an Jiaotong University share extensive basis for cooperation. He highlighted the West Technological Innovation Port construction program of XJTU, saying that Xi'an Jiaotong University is looking forward to strengthen cooperation in talent cultivation, combination of production , teaching and research, interdisciplinary research and joint development of campus with Carnegie Mellon University, and promote bilateral cooperation in the West Technological Innovation Port construction program as well.

Vice president Kuen Jimmy Hsia gave a general introduction of Carnegie Mellon University, and said that there would be an excellent prospect for cooperation in talent cultivation, staff exchange, joint scientific research, construction of key laboratories and West Technological Innovation Port construction program, based on the previous good cooperation of the two sides. Carnegie Mellon University is also exploring scientific research projects in energy, environment and material sciences to enhance substantial cooperation with XJTU.
