On the morning of January 15th, a 9-person delegation from Zvenigorod in Russia, headed by the director of the organization department of the SCO Entrepreneur Club Egree Kolescov, paid a visit to Xi'an Jiaotong University to negotiate cooperation details and sign cooperation memorandums. Wang Shuguo, President of the Xi'an Jiaotong University met with the delegation.

President Wang Shuguo expressed that Shaanxi province and Xi'an will create many opportunities so as to facilitate the cooperation between Zvenigorod and Xi'an and there exists great potential for cooperation. Xi'an Jiaotong University will sign a series of cooperation memorandums with the delegation, which will provide a platform for both sides to carry out broad and multi-field cooperation in Xi'an even the western part of China and lays a good foundation for deepening cooperation. Besides, President Wang Shuguo also introduced the planning, construction and development goal of the Western technological innovation port project of the university. He encouraged both sides to strengthen the exchange of visits and communication and to promote and broaden cooperation via the construction of the western technological innovation port.

Director Egree Kolescov pointed out that there exists extensive cooperation between China and Russia, with great potential. With the development of technology, China-Russia cooperation will enter a new historical period. In the future, the cooperation between China and Russia in the field of economy, culture, technology will be much closer. He also introduced Russia’s planning on developing the transportation network of the new Silk Road and the high-speed railway projects which are under construction. Besides, he also pointed out that China can provide Russia with a lot of valuable experience in the construction and development of high-speed railway projects. Xi’an is the starting place of the Silk Road. Director Egree Kolescov hopes that the visit will help both sides to broaden the cooperation in various fields, actively cooperate in such fields as Chinese medicine hospitals, commercial exhibition, the Shanghai Cooperation International Center, highways, infrastructure and materials, learn from each other’s experience, develop cooperation concerning the Silk Road in new historical period and strive for mutual benefits and common development.

After meeting, President Wang signed a Cooperation Memorandum between Xi'an Jiaotong University and Shanghai International Cooperation Center and a Cooperation Memorandum on Technological Innovation Port between Xi'an Jiaotong University and Shanghai International Center with director Egree Kolescov. He also signed a Cooperation Memorandum between Xi'an Jiaotong University and the Sino-Russian Major Projects Cooperation Commonwealth with its President Gao Hai.
