On 22 December, XJTU Alumni Affinity Fund, initiated and established by enthusiastic alumni of XJTU, was officially launched. The Alumni Affinity Fund is mainly used for supporting various alumni's activities in order to set up a platform for the interaction between the university, teachers, students on campus and vast alumni to provide help for the joint development of the university and the alumni. The Fund is run by joint management of XJTU and alumni donating. The secretary unit of the Fund is set up in the Alumni Relations Development Department. The Fund was supervised by Education Foundation.

President Shuguo Wang wrote a thank-you letter with the special intention, in which he highly praised the kindness and charity actions of their feedback to the university and called on the vast alumni to go ahead hand in hand, loving and understanding each other. In this way, XJTU can make a world first-class university which also contributes to the education prosperity and rejuvenation of China through education.

The alumni who initiated the Fund suggested that the Foundation is something real they can do to repay the university, especially in the respect of caring and supporting alumni. They all maintained the hope that the Affinity Fund will become a new platform of converging the alumni power, improving the alumni activities and supporting the development of the university and all alumni. In addition, through their efforts, they hope that there will be more alumni joining the Fund.

In the launching ceremony, Weibin Zhao, the Secretary-general of Education Foundation, signed a donating agreement with public good with many alumni, including Xiaoli Wei(Technology and Economics Major of Grade 1990 of School of Management ), Xiaodong Wang(Industrial Foreign Trade Major of Grade 1990 of School of Management), Yuanhua Chen(Industrial Engineering Major of Grade 1990), Rui Feng(Air Conditioning Refrigeration of Major of Grade 1989 of Department of Power), Lihu Dong(Insulation of Grade 1991 of Department of Electronics), Tong Zhang(Education Reform of Grade 1986), Zhitao Jin(English for Science and Technology of  Grade 1990).

The President of the council, the Vice President, the Secretary-general, the executive director, elected at the first conference of the first session of the board of directors of the Alumni Affinity Fund, discussed and went through the articles of the Fund, as well as had the discussion of the tasks in the future. According to the Articles of the Fund, it encourages the joining of the individuals and the group members. Dalian Alumni Association of XJTU has become the first group member. After the conference, members of the conference had a field visit of the reform project of the "Affinity Garden" in the East Garden funded by the Affinity Fund.
