On December 10, 2014, the 2014 National University Students' Tax Debate Competition Finals themed with "Pursue for Dreams, Debate on Taxing" was held in Beijing. The debating team of Xi'an Jiaotong University stood out from 73 colleges and universities all over the country anddefeated the debating team of Zhongnan University of Economics and Law by 7:0 in the finals. Ye Yutian, a student of Phun-khang College, was crowned as the "Best Debater".

As one of the debating teams in the Xi'an division, the debating team of Xi'an Jiaotong University overcame all the difficulties and managed to ascend to the Final Eight through excellent performances. The debating team of Xi'an Jiaotong University, together with Hebei University, Dalian Maritime University, Nanjing Audit University, Zhongnan University of Economics and Law, Sichuan University and Ji'nan University, etc. competed for the championship. In the showdown the debating team of Xi'an Jiaotong University defeated its rival by 7:0 and won the championship in the national finals after more than one hour of fierce battle.

The National University Students' Tax Debate Competition whose theme is "Pursue for Dreams, Debate on Taxing" was co-sponsored by the General Office of the State Administration of Taxation and the School Division of the Communist Youth League's Central Committee in September this year. The debating competition covered eight competition areas: Beijing, Shanghai, Nanjing, Xi'an, Chengdu and Guangzhou. Through the elaborate selection among 32 provinces or municipalities, more than 70 debating team of colleges and universities made intellectual debate on taxing and talked freely about the future. The debate not only deepened college students' cognition of taxing but improved legal awareness of tax in the whole of society as well.

Since its establishment in 1996, the debating team of Xi'an Jiaotong University has won the champion in the National Junior College Debate Competition, the National Top University Students' Debate Competition and the Cross-Strait Debate Competition, among others, during which many excellent debaters emerged, such as Lu Yiming, Guo Yukuan and Fan Deng. After painstaking preparations of more than two months, on December 7th the 7 debaters, coming from the School of Economics and Finance, the School of Energy and Power Engineering, Zonglian College, Phun-khang College and Chongshi College, arrived at Beijing and started their long-awaited exciting semifinals and finals. In the finals, they lived up to the expectations of our university and registered another success with excellent performances.
