Supported by the Engineering Workshop and the Communist Youth League Committee of XJTU and guided by two faculty Wang Jing and Zhang Zheng, over 30 members of Sichi car team of XJTU from schools of Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronic and Information Engineering and Energy and Power Engineering designed, manufactured, assembled and tested the two energy-saving cars. The preparation of the race cars started in the beginning of this year and lasted until the National Day. All the members committed to the preparation process. The Sichi car team of XJTU has participated into the race since its creation in 2007. XJTU took part in the race 8 times. Either in fuel oil cars or power driven cars, Sichi car team always takes a lead energy-saving sports among universities

Honda Energy-Saving Sports Race was initiated in Japan in 1981 and has a history of 33 years. Its purpose is to raise the environmental protection and energy-saving consciousness of the whole society by races. In 2007, the energy-saving sports race entered China. China was the third country to hold the race after Japan and Thailand. Except for the engines, the frames and shells were made by each participating team. That is, the race cars of each participating team were unique. In 2011, trial EV power driven group was added. The race took EV group as a complete race group. The success or failure of fuel oil group is decided by the consumption of fuel oil. E V power driven group uses the designed battery and the battery is the only power source of the cars' running. "Challenge one liter, environmental protection all life". The members not only felt the fun of "creation" and "exchange" by originality, but also they experienced the significance of "low oil consumption is environmental protection". They turned their wisdom into reality through the platform "Honda Energy-saving Sports Race" and tried their best to make their contribution to the environmental protection endeavor.
