From October 18 to 19, at the Third Basic Medicine Innovation Forum and Experiment Design Contest for National University Student undertaken by the Second Military University, 8 projects participated by XJTU got excellent performance and acquired 2 first prizes, one second prize, 4 third prizes and one winning prize from the contest "innovation forum group".

60 medical colleges and universities in China took part in the contest and there were 344 participating works, among which there were 149 innovation forum works, 177 experiment design works and 18 wallboard works. In the contest, two projects of XJTU including the amendment on the calculation method of absolute biological utilization degree and theretinal tissue lesion of mice by the revulsion of MNU and the effect of MSCs cure got the first prizes. In April 2010, at the first contest undertaken by the Department of Medicine of Beijing University, XJTU got one first prize. The contest is held biennially. The next contest will be undertaken by Harbin Medical University.

The Department of Medicine carefully organized and fully prepared for the contest .The participating team was led by the director of the Department of Talent Training professor Zhang Ming. The teachers that had rich guiding experiences and organizing capacity guided the whole process. All the contestants delivered wonderful speeches, asked and answered questions briefly, clearly and accurately, which displayed the firm basic theoretical knowledge and research practice capacity of the students of medicine in XJTU and the results got by XJTU in the practical reform of medical teaching because of paying more attention to innovation consciousness and capacity training.

The Basic Medicine Innovation Forum and Experiment Design Contest for National University Student is hosted jointly by the Joint Meeting of the National-level Experiment Teaching Demonstration Center, the Basic Medicine Education Chapter of China Higher Medical Education Society and the Basic Medicine Specialty and Course Teaching Guiding Committee of the Ministry of Education. The contest aims to further urge the higher medical colleges and university and teachers to form the educational conception that puts students first and pays more attention to training capacity and quality, strengthen the training of the students' innovative experiment skills and research thought, push the reform of talent training model, provide a stage for the students to display themselves and a platform for XJTU to exchange. Its core lies in pushing out a batch of talents that have practical spirits and innovative capacity.
