The 8th HONDA Energy-saving Sports Race in China was held in the international velodrome of Guangdong recently. The Sichi car team of XJTU kept on the good momentum of a few races before and continually broke its own record in this race. Among the two assigned race cars, "No.3 Liyuan" of XJTU was the tenth of the fuel oil group with the score 457.67km/L and created the best score of XJTU in the match. In the power driven group, "No.3 Sichi" sticked to the wonderful performance last year and led other universities and was the 6th (No.1 of universities). Its score was the best in the history, 26.937km(374.91km/kwh).

The race had 5 groups and over 150 car teams from all over China and one Thailand car team took part in the race. Supported by the Engineering Workshop and the Communist Youth League Committee of XJTU and guided by two teachers Wang Jing and Zhang Zheng, over 30 members of Sichi car team of XJTU from the School of Mechanical Engineering, the School of Electric Engineering, the School of Electronic and Information Engineering and the School of Energy and Power Engineering etc. designed, processed, assembled and debugged the two energy-saving cars. The relevant preparation of the race cars started in the beginning of this year and lasted until the National Day. The whole preparation process was full of the blood and sweat of all the members. Since HONDA Energy-saving Sports Race in China was held for the first time in 2007, the Sichi car team of XJTU has been never absent. It took part in the race for 8 times. Be it fuel oil cars or power driven cars, Sichi car team was ahead of energy-saving sports of universities.

Honda Energy-saving Sports Race was initiated in Japan in 1981 and had a history of 33 years. It aims to raise the environmental protection and energy-saving consciousness of the whole society by races. In 2007, the energy-saving sports race entered China. China was the third country to hold the race after Japan and Thailand. Except the engines, the frames and shells were made by each team. That is, the race cars of each team were unique. In 2011, trial EV power driven group was added. The race took EV group as a complete race group. The success or failure of fuel oil group is decided by the consumption of fuel oil. E V power driven group uses the designed battery and the battery is the only power source of the cars' running. "Challenge one liter, environmental protection all life". The members not only felt the fun of "creation" and "exchange" by originality, but also they experienced the significance of "low oil consumption is environmental protection". They turned their wisdom into reality through the platform "Honda Energy-saving Sports Race" and tried their best to make their contribution to the environmental protection cause.
