On the morning of November 1, the eye-catching International City Wall Marathon was held in Xi'an. The XJTU students showed good performance: the second of male semi-marathon, the third and the fourth of female semi-marathon, the fourth of male 13.7 kilometers, the fifth of female 13.7 kilometers and the fifth of male 5 kilometers. 2752 athletes home and abroad took part in the match. The theme of the match was "Ancient City Wall, Marathon for Millions".

The match started in 1993, since then 19 matches have been held successfully. Over 45000 took part in the match with more than 9300 foreign athletes from 60 countries and regions. The high-ranking government officials, celebrities and famous players also joined in the match as guests. Last year, the match was evaluated as one of the ten elite matches of Chinese sports tourism by the General Administration of Sports and the National Tourism Bureau. What is worthy to be mentioned is that this year, a 71-member team led by the mayor and speaker of Korean Gyeongju, a sister city of Xi'an, took part in the match. This was the seventh time for Korean Gyeongju to form a team and compete in the International City Wall Marathon in Xi'an.

The 2014 International City Wall Marathon was another open match XJTU students joined after XJTU Runners Club's establishment. Previously, XJTU students also participated in "2014 Li Ning 10 Kilometers Match, Xi'an", "2014 Huashan Climbing Challenging Match", summer project "Running to Yan'an ", "2014 Beijing Marathon" and "2014 Shanghai International Marathon Match". At present, the club is actively organizing an athlete team with non-sport-major students to prepare for the "Bin County Semi-marathon Match" and "2014 Amoy International Marathon".
