On August 31, the XJTU French Alumni Association was founded in Paris. Dr. Wu Qin, XJTU alumnus in grade 1977 and CEO of French Eber Tai Hotel Group, was elected to be the first president of the Association. The attendees of the founding ceremony included: Public Counselor Ma Yansheng from the Education Department of Chinese Embassy to France, Public Counselor Chen Ming from the Science and Technology Department of Chinese Embassy to France, President Ying Qiang of Paris Branch of Xinhua News Agency, President of European Times Communication Group Zhang Xiaobei, President of French Fahua Industry and Commerce Federation Guo Zhimin and the heads of All France Student Federation, Paris Student Federation, All France Chinese Science And Technology Workers Association, French Overseas Study Personnel Undertaker Association , Presidents of the French alumni associations and the members of the alumni association of XJTU in France.

During the ceremony, President Wu read the congratulatory letter sent by Alma Mater XJTU. Alma Mater congratulated on the establishment of the XJTU French Alumni Association and expressed warm greetings to all the alumni in France and sincere thanks to the alumni who participated in the preparation of founding the Association. Invited by the French alumni, XJTU President Wang Shuguo inscribed congratulations: "Publicize Chinese culture and gather alumni as a family, and inherit XJTU spirit and discuss the joint efforts to create glory."

In 2016, XJTU will have its 120th anniversary of founding and 60th anniversary of westward moving. The founding of the French Alumni Association is a new opportunity and beginning. Starting from now, the alumni in France will use this firm platform, cherish the affection between teachers and students and the friendship among the schoolmates, further integrate all kinds of powers to support the Alma Mater and alumni, promote development and create glory together.
