From June 9 to June 12, a 12-member delegation led by Nebraska state secretary Mr. John Alan Gale and Senator Kate Sullivan visited XJTU. On the afternoon of June 9, President Wang Shuguo and Vice President Lu Tianjian met with the visiting guests in room 107 of the Science Hall. The two parties discussed the cooperation between Nebraska and Shaanxi province, as well as cooperation between the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and XJTU; in addition, the culture exchange between China and the United States.

During the meeting, the two parties gave special attention to issues related to the environment, agriculture and the philosophy of education. President Wang welcomed the visitors and said he hoped that in the future, student exchanges between the two universities could be strengthened and he welcomed more American students to come to XJTU to study. Secretary Gale reviewed the friendly contact and long history of cooperation between the two institutions.
