A veteran in Zhuhai's Xiangzhou district has returned to his hometown to open a coffee shop called Coffee Ting's, creating a warm community space for residents and visitors under a large banyan tree on Yinhua Road.

Yang Jiajun, the founder, served in the military before spending years in the tourism and catering industries elsewhere. In 2026, seeing Zhuhai's rapid development and improving business environment, he decided to bring his team back home to start a new venture.

Choosing the location was a process of walking through familiar streets. When he reached Cuixiang subdistrict and saw the banyan tree on Yinhua Road, he knew he had found the right spot. The lively tree, clean neighborhood and warm community atmosphere convinced him to open shop there.

Yang said he wants to treat the shop as a living room, sharing the best of Zhuhai with every resident and visitor. The shop features a wall decorated with a collage of the Zhuhai Fisher Girl, made by Yang and his team using colored tape.

The coffee shop centers on local flavors, roasting its own coffee beans to create a refreshing taste suited to the coastal city. Its food menu features fresh local seafood paired with house-made sauces. "Pouring our heart and soul into everything we do is what defines us," Yang said.

Since opening, the shop has received positive reviews. Cuixiang subdistrict staff visited the shop to offer support, which Yang said made him feel the warmth of his hometown. In the future, he plans to turn the second floor into a neighborhood activity space that connects residents and promotes local tourism and culture.
