Intl investment experts discuss upcoming 2019 CIFIT

The 2019 International Investment Experts Committee Salon was held in Beijing on May 9.
A total of 14 international investment experts and staff members from China's Ministry of Commerce, the China Society for World Trade Organization Studies (CWTO), and Xiamen Municipal Bureau of Convention and Exhibition attended the event.
Chong Quan, chairman of CWTO, expounded on the current situation of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), Sino-US trade and World Trade Organization reform.
Chong particularly mentioned that BRI is a public product that China is capable of offering to other countries after it became the second largest economy in the world.
He said that Xiamen is a pivotal city along the Maritime Silk Road and the CIFIT held annually in the city has always focused on BRI, which has a profound meaning for the initiative.
Wang Qiongwen, director of Xiamen Municipal Bureau of Convention and Exhibition, detailed on the preparation for the 2019 CIFIT and the International Investment Forum.
CIFIT takes place in Xiamen every September. The fair focuses on investment negotiation and investment policy promotion on a national and international scale, and promotes the development of the national and regional economies in China as well as economic and trade exchange across the Taiwan Strait.
In 2018, the fair facilitated the signing of 1,982 investment projects worth 527.5 billion yuan ($78.59 billion) and drew the attendance of more than 120,000 representatives from 1,005 industrial and commercial associations. Nearly 5,000 companies representing 128 countries and regions also attended.
