Nineteen African railway officials and diplomats toured Qinghai-Xizang Railway this week to study high-altitude operations and technology transfer, kicking off a week-long exchange that Chinese officials hailed as a new bridge for China-Africa cooperation.

The "Qinghai-Xizang Railways Tour for African Professionals" set off on Tuesday in Lhasa, capital of the Xizang autonomous region, as part of the China-Africa Year of Cultural and People-to-People Exchange. The delegation observed the railway's operational facilities to experience China's modern highland railway management practices between Monday and Tuesday.
