Dongli district is situated to the east of Tianjin, between the central urban area and the core area of Binhai New Area. The geographical coordinates of the district are between north latitude 39°00 ′– 39°14 ′, and east longitude 117°13 ′- 117°33 ′. It covers an area of 477.34 square kilometers, of which 255 square meters falls into the industrial functional area of Binhai New Area. It has a permanent resident population of 767,000 and a registered population of 420,000. It has 11 sub-districts such as Zhangguizhuang, Fengnian Village, Wuxia and Wanxin as well as 95 community service centers and five city investment and construction companies.
Dongli district has a flat terrain, with the western part higher and the eastern part lower. The average altitude is 1.9 meters. The district is in a warm-temperature zone with a semi-humid continental monsoon climate. The average annual temperature is 13.9℃, average annual precipitation is 685.3 mm and its frost-free season lasts for 231 days.
In 2019, Dongli district achieved 65.16 billion yuan ($10.2 billion) of gross regional product, a growth of 4.4 percent; 6.32 billion yuan of general public budget revenue, an increase of 2.5 percent; and 29.93 billion yuan of fixed-asset investment, a growth of 29.3 percent. Per capita disposable income of residents reached 40,350 yuan, a rise of 7.4 percent. The ratio of three industries was 0.6∶40.2∶59.2.
