In June, 1948, Jiang was arrested and detained in a concentration camp in Southwest China's Chongqing. Despite brutal corporal punishment she refused to hand over the intelligence. In the following year, Jiang died in an execution ground at the age of 29.

After the September 18th Incident, the outbreak of the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression (1931-45), patriots flocked into action to save the country. The Northwest Army general Ji Hongchang transformed a mansion located in the French concession in Tianjin into a liaison station for underground activities of the CPC, and carried out united front work in accordance with instructions.
