Yu Fangzhou (1900-27) is one of the outstanding leaders of the May Fourth Movement in Tianjin. In October 1927, Yu led about 20,000 farmers to fight against local feudal warlords in Jidong area where Tianjin was a key city, but he was unfortunately arrested. Yang Kaihui (1901-30) was one of the earliest female Party members of the Communist Party of China and the second wife of former Chinese leader Mao Zedong. She took a leading role in armed struggles in Central China's Hunan province. In 1930, Yang was murdered by the enemy due to her refusal to quit the Party and decouple from Mao.
