The Malaysia Spotlight of the "BRICS Go-Global Express" initiative, which also served as the Xiamen–Penang Business Connect, was held on Aug 4 at the BRICS Industrial Cooperation and Go-Global Comprehensive Service Hub.

The event drew over 230 participants, including a government and business delegation from Penang, as well as representatives from Chinese companies, exploring overseas opportunities and professional service providers.

More than 150 companies registered for the event, representing multiple cities across Fujian. They came from a wide range of sectors, including new energy, advanced materials, smart manufacturing, food processing, and supply chain services.

During the event, Goh Choon Aik, a member of the Penang State Executive Council, provided a detailed overview of Penang's industrial strengths and investment strategies. He mentioned that much of the equipment at the airport logistics hub is imported from China and expressed interest in personally inviting Chinese logistics companies to participate in the airport's development.

Meanwhile, Datuk Yeoh Soon Hin, chairman of the Penang Port Commission, examined the potential for supply chain collaboration between the two sides from a port perspective.

Representing the Malaysian business community, Datuk Lee Ooi Leong, president of STARK Group, and Wong Wei Chang, executive director of SUMITEC, took turns on stage to also show their interest in partnership opportunities.

To address key challenges for companies going global, Chinese organizations shared practical insights on entry-exit services, cross-border tax planning, and digital implementation, offering clear guidance for firms eyeing investment in Malaysia.
