The international cruise ship Adora Mediterranea recently arrived in Xiamen with 600 passengers on board. That same evening, it departed from Xiamen with 2,100 passengers, bound for Naha, Japan. This marked the launch of the 2024 warm winter cruise season at Xiamen International Cruise Home Port.
The Adora Mediterranea has operated seven cruise routes from Xiamen, traveling to destinations in Japan and Southeast Asia from Nov 15 to Dec 6.
Among these routes, the "cruise + culture" 13-day, 12-night premium long voyage departing on Dec 6 is the only of its kind to be offered this year. This special journey will take passengers from Xiamen to five Southeast Asian destinations: Manila, Kota Kinabalu, Port Klang, Singapore, and Phu My, offering a unique experience of the Maritime Silk Road's charm.
The Xiamen International Cruise Home Port will welcome the Blue Dream Melody cruise ship on Nov 28. This vessel will offer a unique extended voyage — a 33-night journey visiting 15 ports and 17 stops. Passengers will explore seven ASEAN countries, including Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, Brunei, and the Philippines. The itinerary includes visits to eight UNESCO World Heritage sites.
Cruise tourism is becoming increasingly popular in Xiamen, which has been dubbed a "Garden on the Sea".
Why Xiamen
-
Xiamen is one of the most economically competitive cities in China and was one of the first Special Economic Zones on the Chinese mainland. As a vice-provincial city independently listed on the State development plan, it has provincial-level authority in economic administration and local legislative power. In 2010, the Xiamen SEZ was expanded to cover the entire municipality. Today, Xiamen is a modern and international port city.
