Xiamen Customs released the foreign trade import and export data for the first quarter on April 15.

According to statistics, the total value of Xiamen's imports and exports in the first quarter reached 225.44 billion yuan ($31.14 billion), with imports valued at 117.7 billion yuan and exports valued at 107.74 billion yuan. That is on par with last year, with 41 companies joining the "Billion-Dollar Club" for imports and exports.

In the first quarter, Xiamen's foreign trade imports and exports were characterized by rapid development in emerging formats, strong vitality of market entities, broad layout of trade partners, excellent performance of high-tech products, and significant advantages in characteristic products. 

Through the supervision platform for cross-border e-commerce, the import and export value reached 10.64 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 117.8 percent and a record high. Its proportion of the total import and export volume rose to 4.7 percent, also a record high.

In addition, Xiamen ranked first in the nation in six import and export categories, including stone block imports (1.51 million metric tons), coal imports (15.41 million tons), granite exports (231,000 tons) and tungsten product exports (310 million yuan worth).

The number of foreign trade enterprises in Xiamen with import and export performance reached 11,318, a record high for the period and 1,013 more than the same period last year.
