The catering service units in Xiamen, Fujian province have been implementing epidemic control and prevention and operation management under the guidance of the municipal bureau of commerce since October.
The management includes various aspects spanning detailed epidemic control and prevention, guaranteeing food safety, and implementing civilized dining manners.
The city is constructing a type of canteen that encourages dinners to use serving chopsticks and spoons, offers separate meals, and does not sell dishes made with wild animals, and advocates against food waste.
The promotion of serving chopsticks and spoons and the introduction of separate meals have not only been implemented in hotels and restaurants, but also in small and private restaurants and food stalls.
The municipal bureau of commerce has also been bolstering efforts to ensure the safety and sanitation of shopping malls, supermarkets and catering service businesses to aid the development of a national civilized city.
For instance, in RT-Mart, janitors carry out frequent sterilization starting from around 6 am, disinfecting and cleaning shopping carts, baskets, and escalators once an hour.
