E-commerce boosts Xiamen's online retail sector

In the January-July period, Xiamen's online retail sales hit 116.37 billion yuan ($17.96 billion), up 29.3 percent year-on-year, 9 percentage points higher than Fujian province in terms of growth rate, according to the Xiamen municipal bureau of commerce.
In the first half of this year, Xiamen had completed a business volume of 20.62 million pieces to Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan, as well as international business, up 184.93 percent year-on-year.
In recent years, Xiamen has released 18 supporting polices, a three-year action plan for live broadcast e-commerce, financial support worth 20 million yuan for live broadcasting e-commerce, and other measures to facilitate the high-quality development of e-commerce, as well as to attract more talents and institutes to the live broadcast industry to Xiamen.
To date, Xiamen is home to 23 e-commerce live broadcast bases that help boost the city's online retail sector, according to the Xiamen municipal bureau of commerce.
The Yunchuang Webcast Town, which will open in September, has already attracted 50 companies. Covering an area of 1.36 hectares in Haicang district, the town would have over 300 live broadcast rooms a selection center, and a 500-square-meter photo studio.
