From June 23 to 27, the ninth national special training session on major crime prosecution for procuratorial organs nationwide was held at the Beidaihe Procuratorial Technical Support Center of the Supreme People's Procuratorate (SPP). The session gathered 100 key professionals from major crime prosecution divisions across the country.
Focusing on key challenges in the full process of handling major criminal cases, from case review and prosecution to public prosecution in court, the training provided targeted practical guidance. It centered on the standardization of public prosecutors' appearance in court, the review and analysis of typical cases from nationwide evaluation of prosecutors' court performance, and the sharing of frontline case-handling experience, with the aim of comprehensively enhancing the practical capabilities of the major crime prosecution workforce.
The training adopted a dual-track interactive teaching model combining lectures by external experts and peer instruction by experienced prosecutors, forming a multi-level and practice-oriented teaching system.
External lecturers included leading experts in legal theory, adjudication practice, procuratorial technology, and forensic science. They delivered lectures covering topics ranging from policy theories and adjudication perspectives to digital technology application in judicial case handling.
The internal teaching centered on two core themes — the implementation of standards for review of arrests and prosecution, and the full-process standardization of public prosecution in court. The head of the SPP's Procuratorial Department for Major Crimes delivered an authoritative on-site interpretation of the newly issued pilot standards on assessing quality and efficiency in the review of arrests and prosecution.
In addition, national prosecution experts and outstanding prosecutors conducted in-depth sessions on courtroom interrogation and theories of inquiry, court debate strategies, and standardized full procedures for prosecutors' court performance.
Drawing on the overall results of the national evaluation of prosecutors' court performance, key professionals from the SPP's Procuratorial Department for Major Crimes reviewed typical court trial cases, analyzed difficulties faced in frontline practice, and proposed solutions.
The head of the Procuratorial Department for Major Crimes emphasized the importance of thoroughly studying and applying the knowledge gained during the training, urging all participants to make effective use of the learning outcomes to continuously advance the high-quality development of major crime prosecution nationwide.
