SPP holds seminar to promote procuratorial integration into high-quality Belt and Road cooperation

The Supreme People's Procuratorate (SPP) held its second seminar on the integration of procuratorial work into the high-quality Belt and Road cooperation in the new era in Xi'an, Northwest China's Shaanxi province, on July 10.

Ge Xiaoyan, a member of the Party Leadership Group and Deputy Prosecutor General of the SPP; Liu Qiang, a member of the Standing Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Shaanxi Provincial Committee and Secretary of the Political and Legal Commission of the CPC Shaanxi Provincial Committee; and Lu Jianjun, Secretary of the CPC Xi'an Jiaotong University Committee, attended and addressed the seminar. Wang Xuguang, Chief Prosecutor of the Shaanxi People's Procuratorate, presided.

Ge emphasized that, since the establishment of the SPP Belt and Road Procuratorial Research Base in Shaanxi, efforts have been made to build it into a high-end think tank for the innovative development of procuratorial organs and an important platform for supporting the implementation of national strategies, which has provided a high-quality and efficient legal guarantee for promoting high-quality Belt and Road cooperation.

She also stressed the need to focus on handling each case with high quality and efficiency, integrate theory with practice, coordinate internal development and external cooperation as well as cultivation and introduction of procuratorial talents, and strengthen theoretical research on procuratorial work involving the Belt and Road Initiative, in a bid to gather new momentum for advancing high-quality Belt and Road cooperation.

Liu called on judicial organs province-wide to fully tap into their functions to better serve and support high-quality development and high-level opening-up of the province. Procuratorial organs in the province should focus on legal supervision and actively perform their duties in accordance with the law, to promote high-quality Belt and Road cooperation through high-quality and efficient case handling and legal services, Liu added.

Heads of the SPP's relevant departments and those of provincial-level procuratorates of Shaanxi, Gansu, Qinghai, Ningxia, Xinjiang and Inner Mongolia and the People's Procuratorate of the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps, experts and scholars from Xi'an Jiaotong University and other universities, as well as authors of outstanding papers, also attended the seminar.
