The National Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) Prevention and Treatment Base and the National TCM Inheritance and Innovation Center began construction on March 9 in Taiyuan, capital of North China's Shanxi province. The groundbreaking of these two projects signifies a major step forward in Shanxi's efforts to enhance its TCM capabilities and contribute to public health.

The National TCM Prevention and Treatment Base is a dual-purpose facility that combines routine medical services with emergency response capabilities. It will offer comprehensive outpatient services for common and prevalent diseases in everyday operations, supported by advanced auxiliary medical facilities.

The National TCM Inheritance and Innovation Center is a hub dedicated to advancing TCM through research and development. The center will specialize in treating diseases like membranous nephropathy, colorectal cancer, and psoriasis, focusing on key areas such as clinical efficacy evaluation, evidence-based research, and theoretical innovation.

It will feature state-of-the-art facilities, including research-oriented outpatient and inpatient departments, a modern biological resource bank, and multidisciplinary research platforms. It will serve as a repository for ancient TCM texts and a center for drug development and health product innovation.

These initiatives are expected to strengthen Shanxi's healthcare infrastructure by enhancing emergency response capabilities and driving innovation. As these projects progress, they promise to improve public health outcomes and pave the way for a brighter TCM future.
