The fourth "Jinyang Cup" Seal Cutting Art Exhibition opened at the Taiyuan Art Museum in North China's Shanxi province on April 18.

Seal cutting art is a tributary of traditional Chinese culture. It has a history of more than 3,000 years, dating back to the Shang Dynasty (c.16th century-11th century BC).

Experts and scholars have reached a consensus that contemporary seal cutting art has progressed faster than other contemporary visual arts, climbing to new heights in terms of participation.

The "Jinyang Cup" Seal Cutting Art Exhibition is held once every three years, showcasing the province's cultural spirit, while also promoting outstanding traditional Chinese culture.

The exhibition began soliciting contributions, accepting submissions, and conducting evaluations in 2023. After three rounds of preliminary, intermediate, and final evaluations, 10 creators were selected and awarded.

This exhibition features a combination of bold, unrestrained seals and elegant, classic seals.

Shanxi's seal cutting artists have participated in each of the nine National Seal Cutting Art Exhibitions. The triennial "Jinyang Cup" Seal Cutting Art Exhibition also provides opportunities for local seal cutting enthusiasts to participate and showcase their work.
