Taiyuan city has implemented real-name registration in public transportation since Feb 25 -- to ensure the traceability of all passengers during the prevention and control period of the novel coronavirus pneumonia epidemic, according to Taiyuan Public Transport Holdings Co. 

Passengers using payment methods such as bus IC cards, UnionPay cards and mobile phone payment apps do not need to repeat registration and can directly swipe their card or scan the QR code to travel by bus. 

Passengers using cash and coin need to use WeChat or Alipay's QR code scanning function to complete real-name registration, scan the QR code on the bus and their bus useage information will be automatically recorded before paying the fare. 

Passengers who don't carry phones or cannot register with phone should show ID cards and fill in the form on the bus before paying the bus fare.

Taiyuan will resume operations of local bus lines -- except community buses, tourist buses and intercity bus lines connecting Jinzhong city -- from March 2 on.

Due to the current epidemic situation, it is advised that passengers should wear protective masks and keep their distance from others on the bus.
