Located on the west bank of Fenhe River, Shanxi Museum occupies an area of 168 mu (11.2 hectares), and is one of the most modern and comprehensive museums in China. Boasting a total of 400,000 pieces of precious collections, the museum is the largest of its kind in relic collection, protection and research in Shanxi. Laid out under the theme of "Soul of Jin", the museum features seven historic culture and five art specials, in order to highlight the significant moments in the long history of Shanxi.
Opening hours: 9:00-17:00 (No admission after 16:00)
Closed days: Mondays, Chinese New Year's Eve and New Year's Day (except Mondays falling on national holidays).
Admission fee: 8,000 limited free tickets per day for adults with a valid certificate; minors must be accompanied by adults.
Group ticket: Tourist group with more than 20 visitors must make an appointment two workdays in advance and get the tickets at the booking office.
