Mass Medical International, a global healthcare consultancy founded in the US coastal city of Boston in 2015, is expected to usher in a new era in cancer treatment in Shanxi province, after it opened its first Chinese oncology clinic in the provincial capital Taiyuan on March 31.

Mass Medical International said the new clinic would connect Chinese clients with hospitals affiliated to Harvard Medical School.

The US consultancy has already partnered with several Harvard Medical School affiliates in the United States – including Massachusetts General Hospital, Brigham and Women's Hospital, and the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, as well as hundreds of hospitals in China.

Tapping into its parent's rich resource base, Mass Medical International Center in Taiyuan is expected to attract medical experts and scholars from home and abroad and experienced doctors from Harvard Medical School.

The center will provide cancer patients in Shanxi province with executive health examinations and international medical treatment consultation services. It can also quickly connect patients with medical specialists in top Chinese hospitals, for personalized illness consultation and treatment planning through remote consultation.

Its establishment is expected to help Shanxi's hospitals build regional medical networks, introduce advanced medical technologies from overseas and enable local patients to obtain an accurate diagnosis and treatment at the hands of  international multidisciplinary medical teams -- without the need for them to go abroad, or help reduce the frequency of their trips abroad.
