The 2026 Taiyuan Marathon is scheduled to kick off at 7:30 am on Sept 27 from Wuyi Square in Taiyuan, Shanxi province, with 40,000 participating runners. As a World Athletics Gold Label Road Race and a China Athletics Association-certified Class A event, this year's marathon has further enhanced its race organization, athlete services, and event security.

The marathon has optimized its reward system by expanding the prize categories for both the full and half marathons from the top 32 to the top 100 finishers. For the first time, the top eight Chinese finishers will receive a "Special Prize for Chinese Marathon Runners", and the reward for Chinese athletes who break the race record has been increased.

Comprehensive medical support will be available, with numerous medical stations, equipped ambulances, AEDs, emergency support vehicles, and multiple designated hospitals providing tiered treatment and expedited care. Volunteers have been recruited and trained to assist with material distribution, on-site guidance, and facial verification services.

For traffic management, efforts are underway to minimize the impact on residents' travel by optimizing zoning, cleaning up the course efficiently, and reopening roads in phases, allowing the public to plan their travel.

Coinciding with the Mid-Autumn Festival holiday, participants can enjoy one free visit to attractions such as the Jinci Museum, Tianlongshan Grottoes Museum, Taiyuan Zoo, and Taiyuan Guxian Town, upon reservation and with valid registration proof.
