Wu Cunrong, chairman of the Shanxi Provincial Committee of the CPPCC, met with Jesús Seade, the Mexican Ambassador to China, on Sept 9 before the 2024 Taiyuan Energy Low Carbon Development Forum (TELC).

Wu warmly welcomed Ambassador Seade and his delegation and provided a brief overview of Shanxi province. He highlighted that Shanxi is a crucial comprehensive energy base for China and a national pilot zone for resource-based economic transformation.

In recent years, Shanxi has accelerated the development of a modern industrial system, fostering key industrial chains such as special steel, photovoltaics, new materials, new energy vehicles, and high-end equipment manufacturing. Shanxi has also developed specialized towns for intelligent casting, specialty foods, and green building materials. This has led to a stable and improving economy with accelerated transformation across the province.

Wu emphasized that Shanxi would use the TELC forum to showcase its strengths in industries, talent, technology, and capital. He expressed willingness to enhance collaboration in culture and tourism, agriculture, trade and investment, education, healthcare, and infrastructure, achieving mutual benefits for Shanxi and Mexico.

Ambassador Seade stated that Mexico would participate in the TELC forum as a guest of honor and host the Mexico Honored Guest Country Forum. He expressed willingness to share Mexico's experiences and jointly build an international platform for energy exchange and cooperation, deepening the relationship between Mexico and China.
