North China's Shanxi province released its "Equipment Update Work Plan for the Manufacturing Industry in Shanxi Province" on May 21, aiming to promote the high-end, intelligent, and green development of its manufacturing industry and provide strong support for the development of new quality productive forces.

According to the plan, the large-scale deployment of the industrial internet, internet of things, 5G, gigabit fiber-optic network and other new network infrastructures will be carried out across the province, and enterprises will be encouraged to carry out the upgrading and transformation of internal and external networks to improve data transmission capabilities.

On this basis, the province will expand the application of intelligent device software, and increase investment in intelligent manufacturing equipment and software, so as to promote process innovation, equipment upgrading, management optimization, and intelligent production processes.

Furthermore, typical scenarios for intelligent manufacturing, digital workshops, and intelligent factories will be built up, and leading enterprises will be guided to collaborate with upstream and downstream enterprises to create smart supply chains.

The application of applicable technologies in industrial fields such as artificial intelligence, cloud computing, big data, and blockchain will also be promoted.

The Shanxi Provincial Department of Industry and Information Technology stated that the province would prioritize part-exchange transactions in the key areas of equipment and consumer goods, and promote production enterprises to expand their scale and improve the quality of their equipment products, so as to provide enough high-quality products for large-scale equipment updates.
