The 2023 Taiyuan Energy Low Carbon Development Forum (TELC) opened at the Shanxi Xiaohexi International Convention Center in Taiyuan, capital of North China's Shanxi province, on Sept 6.
Running under the theme "smart energy for green and win-win future," the forum is jointly hosted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Ministry of Natural Resources, the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council, the National Energy Administration, and the Shanxi Provincial People's Government.
Officials from various organizing departments, foreign dignitaries, and representatives of international organizations, foreign embassies, Shanxi's international sister cities, academicians, State-owned enterprises (SOEs), and multinational companies attended the opening ceremony.
In addition to the opening ceremony and the summit forum, this year's TELC consisted of four international conferences, 11 parallel forums, and two Shanxi special events.
Among the international conferences, the forum on Iceland – this year's country of honor – focused on cooperation and exchanges regarding the carbon cycle, as well as the development and utilization of geothermal resources.
Meanwhile, the 13th Global 500 New Energy Enterprises Summit concentrated on building a new system for digital energy storage, and releasing related research achievements.
The International Friendship City Exchange & Cooperation Dialogue aimed to promote cooperation between Shanxi and its international friendship cities in green transformation, high-quality development and cultural tourism, and saw the signing of numerous agreements showing an intention to cooperate.
The 11 parallel forums, organized by well-known international institutions, national organizations, multinationals, and Shanxi institutions, cover topics such as smart energy, clean energy, energy security, and energy cooperation. They aim to produce frameworks, white papers, proposals, and cooperation agreements.
The two special events feature the release of achievements and case studies in the so-called energy revolution and the in-depth cooperation between Shanxi and SOEs administered by the Chinese central government.
The TELC, now in its sixth edition, has become a high-level dialogue, technological achievement release, and international cooperation platform in the energy field.
