Shanxi marches toward becoming advanced manufacturing hub

Shanxi province's manufacturing industry has shown strong growth in the first half of 2023, with its added value having jumped 8.3 percent year-on-year and the growth rate ranking second among the six provinces of Central China.
During this period, the revenue raked in by the 10 key industrial chains in the province grew 18.3 percent year-on-year, and the output value of the 10 key characteristic professional towns at the provincial level increased 13.6 percent.
Industrial transformation has also accelerated, with advanced production capacity accounting for 81.4 percent of the total production capacity in the coking industry. Additionally, the province has welcomed 23 environmentally friendly factories, one green supply chain management company, 11 green design products, and a new green industrial park in the first half of the year.
Shanxi has also seen the installation of 84,000 5G base stations from January to July, and the construction of 16 industrial internet identity resolution secondary nodes has been promoted, with eight already connected to national top-level nodes.
Efforts have been made to accelerate companies' technological transformation and construction projects. In the first half, 37 billion yuan ($5.14 billion) was invested in industrial transformation projects, equivalent to 60 percent of the annual investment plan for the province.
The capability for technological innovation support has also improved, with a focus on building a system taking enterprise technology centers as its core. Moreover, the province has started building new industrial bases showcasing enterprises' innovative achievements.
Moving forward, Shanxi will spare no effort to build an advanced manufacturing industry hub in Central China, focusing on high-end, intelligent, and green development.
