A locally-themed provincial fitness event targeting children and adolescents was launched in Taiyuan, capital of North China's Shanxi province, on May 31.

The event, co-sponsored by the Sports Bureau of Shanxi Province, Shanxi Department of Education and the Shanxi Provincial Committee of the Communist Youth League of China, aimed to build a system of activities that links schools, communities, clubs, sports schools, and various sports venues.

Theme-based fitness activities for children and adolescents will be carried out throughout the province to guide them to participate in more physical exercise and improve their overall health.
