Jincheng in North China's Shanxi province was awarded the title of National Mass Reading Promotion City on April 10 for its increasing efforts to encourage residents to read more.   

Since 2021, the China Writers Association has launched a series of activities to fully foster the enthusiasm and love of reading across the country.

In recent years, Jincheng has built public libraries, reading rooms and book corners in its urban areas, communities and villages. Additionally, it has set up automatic book lending machines in several parks and squares.
