Shanxi holds competition to boost interest in ar​chae​ol​o​gy

The 2022 National Vocational Skills Competition on Cultural Relics is underway in Taiyuan, North China's Shanxi province, bringing together 219 archaeological professionals and teachers and students majoring in related subjects at colleges across China.

Organized by the National Cultural Heritage Administration, Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security and All-China Federation of Trade Unions, the competition, which began on Saturday and ends on Sunday. aims to show the crafts of restoring artifacts, help the craftspeople exchange and improve their skills, so as to discover more talented people in this field and encourage more people to join this cause.

The event will hold competitions on archaeological exploration skills, restoring wooden cultural relics, tile and brick work, porcelain and pottery, murals and bronze ware. For each item there will be exams on theoretical knowledge and practical operations.
