Shanxi political advisers propose interprovincial air pollution control
Updated: 2023-03-09
Shanxi members of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) recently submitted a joint proposal to the CPPCC National Committee during the annual two sessions in Beijing on March 4-13.
The proposal will strengthen the joint prevention and treatment of air pollution in the border areas of Shanxi, Hebei, Shanxi and Henan provinces, as well as Inner Mongolia autonomous region.
The prevention and control of air pollution is changing from focusing within a region to coordinated treatment within and outside a region. In this way, inter-provincial pollution transmission will no longer be ignored.
In recent years, the State has established a joint prevention and control mechanism for air pollution in key areas such as Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region and its surrounding areas, the Yangtze River Delta region and the Fenwei Plain. In doing so, this mechanism has played an important role in solving cross-regional environmental problems and improving the overall efficiency of regional ecological environmental protection.
The CPPCC National Committee members from Shanxi suggested that the joint prevention and control mechanism for regional air pollution should be furthered; the access standards for the ecological environment along provincial boundaries should be optimized; a joint regional atmospheric environment construction and co-governance system should be explored; and the disposal of existing pollution sources should be accelerated.
