Shanxi women share rights and honors

A symposium to mark International Women's Day on March 8 was held in Taiyuan, capital of North China's Shanxi province, on March 7.

On behalf of the provincial authorities, Shang Liguang, deputy Party secretary of Shanxi, congratulated women from all walks of life in the province and expressed heartfelt thanks to all people who support women's causes.

He said that Shanxi will earnestly strengthen and improve their leadership over women's work, and all sectors of society will continue to care for and support women's causes, as well as jointly create a healthy atmosphere of respect for women and protect and safeguard their legitimate rights and interests. 

Entrusted by the All-China Women's Federation, the symposium presented awards to individual and group women role models.

In 2022, the majority of women in Shanxi have been active and enterprising, showcasing their many strengths. 

Women's federations in the province helped more women start businesses, innovate, and create wealth last year. To help more women start their own businesses and find employment, the organizations introduced and implemented measures targeting employment and entrepreneurship among female college students, organized 312 special job fairs online and offline which served 154,000 women job seekers, and applied for loans worth 164 million yuan ($23.54 million) for entrepreneurial women.

To prevent and resolve marital and family conflicts and disputes, the organizations organized more than 8,000 publicity activities, serving more than 500,000 women. As a result, the ability of women and families to handle conflicts according to law was strengthened, and the resolution rate of contradictions and disputes in the field of marriage and family reached 92.71 percent last year.
