The first high-end intelligent rapid tunneling system in China was successfully put to use in the city of Lyuliang in North China's Shanxi province on Feb 7.

On the day, a set of 150-meter-long high-end rapid excavation equipment operated underground in a large local coal mine, with the excavation speed two times higher than that of traditional equipment and the number of miners reduced by two-thirds.

The system, independently developed by CCTEG Taiyuan Research Institute, is designed for advanced drilling and suited for the complicated geological conditions underground, realizing the integration of excavation, anchoring and exploration, and ensuring the safety and efficiency of mining.

The system has passed industrial tests in Shanxi's mining areas and the on-site inspection for the first group of intelligent demonstration coal mines in China, and will be used at more coal mines with complex geological conditions in China.
