China Railway Taiyuan Group Co in Shanxi province handled 4.48 million passenger trips and transported 87.88 million metric tons of cargo during the 40-day Spring Festival travel rush, which ran from Jan 28 to March 8. 

According to passenger travel needs and trends, the group adjusted transportation arrangements during the period. It added electric multiple unit trains to popular destinations, including Shanghai, Ningbo, Shenyang, Tianjin, Zhengzhou and Xi'an, and resumed the operation of normal-speed trains to Shanghai, Qingdao and Guangzhou.

It also guaranteed the transportation of essential materials and daily necessities during the period. The main transportation indicators during the Spring Festival holiday from Feb 11 to 17, such as the railway group's freight and loading volume, all set records compared with past holiday periods.
