Despite the challenges brought by the COVID-19 outbreak, Shanxi has sustained the steady growth of its solar power industry.

During the first seven months of this year, Shanxi's PV projects for poverty relief brought in 1.04 billion yuan in revenue to villages and they developed 228,000 public welfare positions for villagers, with total salaries of 561 million yuan paid.

By the end of 2020, revenue from Shanxi's solar power stations is expected to exceed 1.7 billion yuan. Villages in the province are expected to receive over 1.4 billion yuan, 80 percent of which will be used for the salaries of public welfare posts and the labor costs of public welfare programs. That is, at least 210,000 poor families are likely to be employed in the PV projects.

The 5,479 village-level solar power stations in Shanxi have so far all been connected to the national electricity grid.

A national system for monitoring information from the photovoltaic-driven poverty alleviation projects has been established, allowing the provincial, municipal and county-level departments to monitor the operations data of the PV stations.

Furthermore, Shanxi has stepped up efforts to manage the assets of solar power projects, propelling its rural revitalization.
