The delegation from North China's Shanxi province to the third session of the 13th National People's Congress (NPC) arrived in Beijing on May 20, to submit motions and express the voices of Shanxi's people, according to local officials.
Before the NPC, the deputies of Shanxi province investigated topics relating to socioeconomic development and local people's concerns. These included poverty alleviation, rural revitalization, novel coronavirus pandemic prevention and control, environment protection and emerging industrial development.
They will submit motions to and make suggestions to this year's NPC, which begins on May 22, hoping to find the best solutions to socioeconomic development problems through discussion.
For example, deputy Wang Yali, who is director of the department of gastroenterology at the Third People's Hospital of Datong, will submit a motion on strengthening the construction of a disease control system amid the current COVID-19 pandemic.
"I hope to establish a long-term investment mechanism for disease control funds, build a high-quality talent team and continue to enhance the ability of the disease control system to effectively and in a timely manner respond to various epidemics," she said.
Another deputy Liu Zheng, a lawyer from Shanxi Huaju Law Firm, expressed his willingness to make suggestions during the deliberation of the civil code draft -- which is closely related to people's lives -- based on his professional experience.
