North China's Shanxi province saw stable employment and income for residents in the first quarter (Q1) of 2020.

During the period, 79,000 more people in urban areas of Shanxi found jobs and 89,000 rural laborers were employed outside the province. The per capita disposable income of all residents increased by 1.1 percent, higher than the national growth rate of 0.8 percent.

To expand channels of employment, Shanxi carried out online vocational training for 68,725 people via mobile phone applications themed around vocational training and employment. For poor labors who are not familiar with online vocational events, the province arranged special personnel to offer them 24-hour vocational service online.

The province also took measures in work for relief and vocational skill training to help rural residents get jobs and increase their income, and gave priority to poor laborers in receiving various subsidies related to employment to alleviate the impact on their income of the novel coronavirus epidemic. Meanwhile, the province provided employment subsidies for agricultural companies and business entities that employed rural laborers for their contribution to rural poverty alleviation.
