Shanxi University was founded in the provincial capital of Taiyuan in 1902 and has grown to cover many disciplines and academic fields, with 93 undergraduate specialties and 10 undergraduate double majors.
Shanxi University faculty, which includes 2,095 full-time teachers, 999 with advanced degrees, has a history of remarkable achievements.
The university hosts members of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, professors and lecturers introduced under the Changjiang Scholars Program, prominent State-level experts and industry contributors, winners of the National Foundation for Eminent Youth, nationally recognized model teachers, teachers recognized by the Education Ministry, and nearly 100 experts on government stipends.
The university currently has 24,088 undergraduates and 5,867 postgraduates enrolled.
Increasing international exchanges and expanding its partnerships with more than 60 universities and institutions in countries such as United States, Japan, South Korea, the United Kingdom and Canada, Shanxi University has also established Confucius Institutes at Yerevan State Linguistic University in Armenia and Pfeiffer University in the United States.
