The China (Zibo) Culture and Art Festival – organized by the Zhangdian district of Zibo city, in East China's Shandong province – was recently held in Veliky Novgorod, one of the most ancient cities in Russia.
The event was themed on promoting excellent traditional Chinese culture and promoting friendship between China and Russia. As such, the festival showcased the charms of Chinese culture through various exhibitions, performances and exchange activities.
Photograph and calligraphy exhibitions were clear highlights. Over 10 photography, calligraphy and painting works were selected for display.
Through them, Russian friends were able to appreciate the scenic spots, folk customs and cultural landscapes of different regions in China, as well as learn about the changes and development of Chinese society.
In the calligraphy and painting exhibitions, visitors could appreciate the works of modern Chinese masters. Russian counterparts were also invited to the exhibition, which helped promote mutual understanding and cultural and artistic exchanges between the two countries.
The festival also provided Russian students with rich and colorful learning and communications opportunities. They experienced how to make traditional handicrafts, including paper cuttings and clay sculptures – responding to the appeal of traditional Chinese handicrafts.
