Zibo city in East China's Shandong province will optimize the "government plus market" and "finance plus consumption" models to help develop new types of consumption, according to Mayor Zhao Qingwen.
Zhao said Zibo has shown a robust growth in spending since the start of the year thanks to the concerted efforts of the local government and the markets. Enterprises could win more market share by innovating their products and services and exploring new growth points to meet consumer demand, the mayor added.
In January, Zibo released several policies and measures to boost consumer spending, support the trade and circulation industry and promote the comprehensive recovery of consumption.
From January to June, local authorities will issue coupons worth 2,000 ($287) to 7,000 yuan to residents planning to buy new vehicles.
The city also plans to give grants to e-commerce platforms or firms of up to 20,000 yuan. A series of commercial livestreaming sessions will be broadcast in the first quarter.
It is expected that these and other measures will help boost the development of smart commercial areas, the settling of leading brands first shops in Zibo, rural consumer spending and the further development of food catering and restaurant industry.
