The Shandong-Hong Kong Economic Cooperation Fair and the 20th China (Zibo) New Materials Technology Forum kicked off on Feb 23 in the Qisheng International Hotel – located in Zibo city, in East China's Shandong province.

Nearly 400 experts and business leaders attended the opening ceremony, both on-site and online.
In a departure from previous new materials technology forums, this year's event gathered more participants from Hong Kong and Macao universities because of the Shandong-Hong Kong Economic Cooperation Fair.
The Shandong-Hong Kong Economic Cooperation Fair is widely seen as being an important affair for the Shandong municipal government to strengthen its cooperation with Hong Kong in the field of sci-tech innovation.
The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology and the Hong Kong Commerce & Industry Association were present at the opening ceremony to receive certification as urban development partners of Zibo.

As icing on the cake, 30 scientific technological R&D projects - including a research and industrialization project for stem cell and regenerative medicine technology – were signed up at the ceremony to settle in Zibo.
The 20th China (Zibo) New Materials Technology Forum also cooperated with the Chinese Association of Senior Scientists and Technologies, to launch what was called the "Double Hundred Project" – 100 experts come to Zibo, 100 projects settle in Zibo".
